MACCFA has a strong partnership with CMA CGM, a world leader in transport and logistics, and has entered into a joint venture agreement with CEVA Logistics, CMA CGM’s third-party logistics branch, a top leading global logistics partner. MACCFA is an agent for Ethiopian Airlines and many other international carriers and shipping companies.

As a result of MACCFA’s exceptional performance and adherence to local and international customs procedures, MACCFA has received recognition as an “Authorized Economic Operator (AEO)” by the Ethiopian Customs Commission. As per the 2022 Ethiopian Customs Commission report, MACCFA was 100 percent compliant despite processing heavy volumes of declarations each year.

Ground & rail

MACCFA offers ground transport within Ethiopian territories and cross-border transportation services to neighboring countries including Djibouti, Mombasa Port, Berbera Port and Port Sudan. Services include rail transportation along the Ethio-Djibouti Railway, fully booking block train services.

In Ethiopia, MACCFA has strong partnerships with transporters and even its own fleet of flatbed, low, and high-bed trailers and specialized side-loader trucks. The fleet is equipped with GPS tools that enable real-time status tracking and business analytics.

Air Freight

Customers benefit from MACCFA’s wide portfolio of air freight services thanks to several key partnerships including Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest-growing airline in Africa. MACCFA is one of Ethiopian Airlines’ top-performing logistics partners based on volume and compliance rates.

In addition to Ethiopian Airlines, MACCFA is an agent to many other leading international airlines such as Qatar Airways, Kenya Airlines, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Saudi Airlines and more.

Ocean Freight

As a landlocked country, Ethiopia relies on neighboring countries for access to ocean ports. MACCFA’s joint venture with CEVA Logistics enables weekly ocean freight services for more than 600 routes, connecting 10,000 points so customers can easily move ocean freight cargo to its destination.

MACCFA partners with world-leading logistics and transport company, CMA CGM, among other well-known international logistics provider such as Maersk, MCS and more. These relationships enable MACCFA to offer industry-competitive rates on volumized cargo shipments.

MACCFA excels in facilitating the availability of empty containers for export shipments, supporting Ethiopia’s exporters of textiles, coffee, leather goods, and more.

MACCFA safely and effectively manages bulk cargo of all shapes and sizes. MACCFA’s in-house logistics engineering team provides solutions at every stage of the planning and execution process. Our project logistics engineering experts have perfected operations to safely deliver all kinds of cargo to any remote location in Ethiopia and beyond.

MACCFA has a strong track record of managing out-of-gauge cargo in Ethiopia, including rail construction, hydroelectric dams, industrial projects and more.

Contract Logistics (Warehousing & Storage)

MACCFA offers warehousing and storage solutions as part of an end-to-end, full-service logistics portfolio. MACCFA partners with Segon Mill for comprehensive storage solutions in the central business district of southern Addis Ababa.

MACCFA boasts ambient storage solutions with future developments for air-conditioned and cold chain warehousing with CEVA Logistics. CEVA has a large portfolio of temperature-controlled and automated warehouses in most regions across the globe. In addition to standard warehousing and storage solutions, MACCFA offers customizable storage options to fit your unique business needs.

MACCFA-CEVA consolidated freight station

MACCFA operates a Consolidated Freight Station (CFS) in the Mojdo Dry Port, located approximately 40 kilometers from Addis Ababa. The station is a 1,000-square-meter facility with three loading docks.

In addition to the consolidation of less than container load (LCL) Packingcargo, MACCFA’s CFS facility offers additional services including:

Brokerage and customs clearance services

Utilizing a team of experts, MACCFA has managed thousands of customs declarations annually. MACCFA uses CargoWise to standardize and simplify global operational processes. As an additional service, MACCFA has managed customer applications through the “Ethiopian Single Window” service portal, and this has allowed MACCFA to ensure the quality of all declarations prior to submission. In 2022, MACCFA has achieved 100% compliance with Ethiopian customs requirements and was among the top-performing clearing agents. As a result of exceptional compliance performance, MACCFA was recognized as an authorized Economic Operator (AEO) by the Ethiopian Customs Commission.

Pre and post customs clearance – value added service

MACCFA offers pre and post-customs clearance services, including support with supplier communications all the way to receiving final declarations after customs clearance procedures are complete.

MACCFA offers booking, container allocation, shipment follow-up, collaborating with ports and shipping lines along with communication with banks and relevant government and non-government entities such as customs authorities, carriers, Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA), etc. MACCFA manages customer applications through the Ethiopian Single Window Service Portal (ESW system).

Packing and moving services

MACCFA packing and moving services are a one-stop shop for all local and international moves. This includes home, office and industrial relocations. From packing to unloading, MACCFA works closely with its partner, Segon-Marill International Movers PLC, to provide tailor-made packing and moving solutions.
